About Tammy

Tammy Villegas is a Black and Indigenous woman, artist, and energy healer who is inspired by our natural bodies of water and how they interact with the moon and sun. This theme is central to her art, which has been featured at the Friedli Gallery and Studio in St. Paul.

She is driven by her desire to create balance between people and their environment, and designs her products and services with this goal in mind.

A social worker by trade, Tammy has spent her professional career working towards immigrant rights and criminal justice reform. She currently works as an outreach coordinator. In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time with her four children and her granddaughter, who is also an apprentice to her craft.

Healing Birch Waters

Birch trees are sacred in Tammy’s family. Tammy and her family are connected to the tree through its energy and through the memories that they share with the trees.

Tammy has memories of the birch trees lining the Mississippi River when she spent time there with her father as a child, and recalls how they always stood out to her. Each of Tammy’s products feature birch in some way to honor the energy that she feels from the trees and to infuse products with its healing properties.
